Process for prodn. of a pressure vessel comprises (a) placing preformed covers of fibre-reinforced plastic material in the two ends of a tubular mat of fibrous material, (b) placing resin for impregnating the mat both on the part between the covers, and on the part of the mat overlapping the covers, and (c) heating the mat while the mat is centrifuged in contact with a mould, for a period sufficient to are the resin to form a tubular body consisting of fibre reinforced synthetic resin material, both of the overlapping ends being bonded by means of resin. The process enables tubular pressure vessels of fibre-reinforced synthetic resin material to be produced in which the preformed covers are firmly bonded to the tubular body. The vessels are suitable for use as containers for fire extinguishers, water softeners, and similar apparatus. |
