A mobile terminal for supporting the use of plural bearers and a method for transmitting and receiving the same are provided so that a variety of wireless data-based applications can effectively use a plurality of bearers and sockets in various mobile terminals which support a plurality of bearers. If an application requests the setup of a bearer through a mobile platform(S101), the mobile platform grants the identifier of the bearer to the application(S102). If the application opens a socket for the granted bearer identifier(S103), the mobile platform grants the identifier of the socket to the application(S104). The application registers the granted identifiers in the bearer management part of the mobile platform(S105). The application transmits data through the socket(S106). The mobile platform, if the response data for the transmitted data are received, confirms the bearer identifier and the socket identifier, registered in the bearer management part, and transfers the received data to the application(S107).
