A tapping device comprises a pouring tube 1 with a sealing flange 2, and a piercer comprising a tip 4 and a stem 3 of substantially polygonal cross-section, at the top of which stem are provided transverse grooves 11 with oblique surfaces 12, e.g. in the form of part of a screwthread, which surfaces 12, when the device is rotated through less than one revolution, engage the edges of a hole 16 formed in a can so as to urge the sealing flange 2 against the can wall, throughflow passages 13 being provided between the stem 3 and pouring tube 1. The piercer has equally dimensioned wider and narrower sides and the grooves 11 and surfaces 12 may be provided at the narrower sides only, the passages 13 being provided solely at the wider sides. The piercer stem may be of plastics and the tip of steel with sharp edges 8. The pouring tube 1 may have finger lugs 14 and a lid 5. The flange 2 may have a "U" section sealing ring. |
