A winding-type display device is provided to configure a display with a display element which can repeatedly record visual information while erasing the recorded visual information, thereby easily changing displayed information without attaching labels. A display medium(113) is completely wound on an shaft center(114) of the first winding portion(111) or a shaft center(115) of the second winding portion(112) when a winding-type display device(110) is closed. A recording device and an erasing device are attached between the first winding portion(111) and the second winding portion(112). The recording device consists of either a heating unit for recording information by heating or an electric field applying unit for recording the information by applying an electric field, in order to record the information on the display medium(113) around an entrance of the display medium(113) of at least either the first winding portion(111) or the second winding portion(112).
