A blood treating apparatus and method for treating blood most suitably for an individual patient while shortening the treatment time. The blood treating apparatus comprises treating means (11) for conducting a predetermined treatment of the blood collected from a patient, measuring means (12) for measuring a blood parameter representing the state of the blood of the patient, and control means (13) for controlling the treatment condition according to the blood parameter. The blood treating apparatus further comprises storage means (15) where a unique blood parameter curve A for the treatment time ideal for the specific patient is stored and instruction means (14) for instructing the control means (13) to change the control so that the measured blood parameter approximates to the ideal blood parameter curve after comparing the ideal blood parameter curve A with the measured blood parameter.
