A plasma display panel and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to achieve improved color purity and contrast by forming grid dielectric layers and coloring dielectric layers on the dielectric film attached on a front substrate. A plasma display panel(100) comprises a front substrate(111) on which sustain electrodes(112) are disposed at predetermined intervals; a front dielectric layer(114) for burying the sustain electrodes; a rear substrate(121) opposed to the front substrate, wherein the rear substrate has a surface on which address electrodes(122) are arranged in the direction perpendicular to the sustain electrodes; a rear dielectric layer(123) for burying the address electrodes; and barrier ribs(124) for defining discharge spaces(130) between the front substrate and the rear substrate, wherein the barrier ribs have inner surfaces on which phosphor layers(125) are formed. The front dielectric layer includes grid dielectric layers(141) corresponding to the barrier ribs, and coloring dielectric layers(142) disposed between the grid dielectric layers such that the coloring dielectric layers correspond to the respective discharge spaces.
