An image processing system comprising an imager (1) that includes six kinds of LEDs (6a to 6f) emitting lights of different spectral distribution characteristics in the visible region, a CCD (8) of monochromatic type that captures an image of an object illuminated by the LEDs (6a to 6f) formed by an imaging optical system (7) and outputs an image signal, and a CPU (18) for conducting control in such a way that when an instruction to capture an object spectral image is inputted from an operation switch (14), the LEDs (6a to 6f) are turned on sequentially to allow an the CCD (8) to image the object so as to create an object spectral image of six primary colors; and a processing unit (2) that includes a calculation device (21) for capturing the object spectral image of the six primary colors created by the imager (1) and generating a display signal for sophisticated color reproduction and a display (22) for displaying the display signal generated by the calculation device (21).
