PURPOSE: A beacon scheduling apparatus and method in a communication system are provided to increase efficiency of data transmission by controlling a transmission time of a beacon transmitted by each node. CONSTITUTION: A communication system includes the first node group consisting of a coordinator and at least one node including the first node which receives a beacon transmitted by the coordinator, and the second node group consisting of at least one node including the second node which receives a beacon transmitted by the first node. The coordinator determines a beacon transmission window for transmission of a beacon and a beacon transmission time within the beacon transmission window. A beacon including information on the determined beacon transmission window and the beacon transmission time is transmitted at the beacon transmission time. The first node determines the beacon transmission time within the beacon transmission window such that it does not overlap with a beacon transmission time included in a received beacon.
