PURPOSE: An OLT(Optical Line Terminal) for setting a channel in a PON(Passive Optical Network) and a channel setting method are provided to reduce a cost for operation and management of an ONU(Optical Network Unit) and easily change channel information by remotely changing the channel information with the ONU by the OLT. CONSTITUTION: A command receiving unit(350) receives a channel setting command including an address of an ONU and an address of a port connected with the ONU from outside. A frame generating unit(352) generates a frame including the address according to a certain communication protocol set for communication with the ONU. A frame transmitting unit(354) transmits the generated frame to the ONU by using the communication protocol. A channel setting unit(356) sets a communication channel with the ONU based on the address of the ONU and the address of the port.
