PURPOSE: To provide a method and an apparatus for shortly performing electric cleaning to completely remove foreign materials on tungsten wire generated in a tungsten manufacturing process and performing constant electric cleaning to improve surface glossiness of tungsten wire and maintain wire diameter of constant dimensions, thereby simultaneously uniformize electric current flow and extend tungsten wire life. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for cleaning tungsten wire comprises a power supply unit(1) consisting of a voltage regulator, a transformer and a diode; a wire supply part(2) for supplying a tungsten wire passing through a press and a coiling process at a certain rotation speed; an electric cleaning part(3) through which the tungsten wire passes, and in which an electric cleaning circulation part(9) comprising a circulation motor(10) and containing a NaOH or KOH aqueous solution is installed; a water washing part(4) for washing the NaOH or KOH aqueous solution from the tungsten wire passing through the electric cleaning part; a drying part(6) for drying the water washed tungsten wire; and a wire recovery part(7) for winding the dried tungsten wire, wherein the apparatus further comprises transfer rollers(5) for guiding and supporting tungsten wire transferred, a speed reduction motor(8) for controlling a moving speed of tungsten wire, a water washing circulation part(11) comprising a circulation motor(12) to wash tungsten wire by generating vortex, and a control part(13) consisting of switch, speed control system and indication means.
