PURPOSE: A safety device of a parking brake is provided to prevent accidents caused by an unintentional release motion of the parking brake by changing a movable state of a pawl holding a parking state only in pressing a brake pedal by a driver. CONSTITUTION: A safety device of a parking brake is composed of a pawl(9) installed to a parking brake lever(1) and moved by a release knob(3) to switch a combined state with a ratchet(7) formed on a locking plate(5); an actuator for changing a protruded state of a plunger(13) outward the circumferential direction of a movable shaft(11) of the pawl; a plurality of ratchet gears(17) arranged in a movable hole(15) of the pawl along the circumferential direction to engage with the plunger; and a switch unit(25) for varying the delivery of an electric current supplied to the actuator by an operation of a brake pedal(19).
