<p>Hot melt adhesives comprising (a) 0.1-75% (esp. 25-50%) coal tar pitch and (b) 99.9-25% (esp. 50-75%) of a copolymer of ethylene and a 3-8C alkylenically unsatd. acid. Pref. the pitch has a ring and ball working temp. of 70-200 deg.C (esp. 100-150 deg.C). The copolymers (b) are of ethylene with 0.1-75% (esp. 2-20%) of an acid such as (meth)acrylic acid, fumaric acid maleic acid, itaconic acid, crotonic acid, etc. Compns. have excellent adhesion, high resistance to separation at -55 deg. to + 63 deg.C, improved resistance to moisture and bacteria, and are les sensitive to dirty surfaces.</p> |
