The key (10) has an electronic key (12) and a transponder (16). The electronic key is separated from the transponder and recognizes exchange or removal of the transponder. A case (20) is opened by raising a lower shell (18) to cut power supply of the key (10) from a battery. An emergency key is separate from the transponder and the key. A key profile activates a mechanical lock of part e.g. door of the vehicle.
