The apparatus has dumbbells suspended from a frame (1) by a cable. A support is mounted on the frame, such that the support is adjustable with respect to the frame. A rotational speed sensor (8) is mounted on the frame with respect to a pulley. A control electronics (9) determines and controls the inclination of the support with respect to the frame through a motor (7) based on variation speed detected by the sensor.
