In a method of injection moulding an article with a printed or decorative foil on a surface thereof, the foil is first applied to a transfer member 2 which is then fitted within or over one of the mould parts 1 and the foil transferred to the mould part 1, the member 2 is withdrawn, the other mould part (not shown) fitted in its place, and the moulding material injected at 14 to form the article. As shown, the transfer member 2 fits within mould part 1 and is provided with a recess 4 for the foil and orifices 5 . . . 9 through which suction can be applied to hold the foil in place and air can be blown to transfer the foil to the mould part 1. The foil is held on mould part 1 by an electrostatic charge applied by a metal strip connected to a high-voltage wire 12. In a modification (not shown) the transfer member 2 fits over one of the mould parts. |
