PURPOSE: A mobile terminal having a function of controlling a light emitting diode and its method are provided to solve a problem that current is wasted because a sound source providing unit must be continuously operated to control a light emitting unit. CONSTITUTION: A sound source providing unit(203) processes sound source data and generates a control signal for controlling a light emitting unit(206). A calculating/controlling unit(202) generates a control signal used for controlling the light emitting unit(206) when the sound source providing unit is in a standby state(power saving mode). A control signal combining unit(204) combines the control signal received from the sound source providing unit(203) and the control signal received from the calculating/controlling unit(202) and outputs a light emitting unit control signal used for controlling the light emitting unit(206). A light emitting driving unit(205) supplies a current to the light emitting unit(206) or cuts off the current according to the light emitting unit control signal transferred from the control signal combining unit(204).
