PURPOSE: Provided is a method for preparing an acrylic micro-gel resin having balance in thermal fluidity, cross-linking rate and viscosity, thus being capable of producing a paint composition for vehicles with good appearance, weather-resistance, waterproofing and workability. CONSTITUTION: The acrylic micro-gel resin is prepared by the method comprising the steps of: emulsion polymerizing at least one monomer selected from an ethylenic unsaturated monomer containing -COOH or -OH groups, an ethylenic unsaturated monomer free of -COOH and -OH groups, styrene and alpha-methyl styrene, a cross-linking agent, a mixture of an emulsifier and an initiator in water to obtain a micro-gel emulsion; preparing at least one acrylic resin selected from an ethylenic acrylic resin and a polyester resin, an acrylic resin obtained by denaturing a resin formed of an ethylenic unsaturated acrylic monomer with an isocyanate and an amine, and an acrylic resin obtained from an ethylenic unsaturated monomer containing at least two hydroxyl groups; and mixing the micro-gel emulsion and the acrylic resin, followed introducing an solvent and then removing water from the mixture.
