PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that uses a solid-state imaging element in which smear in an image is suppressed. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises a CCD (charge-coupled device) 1 comprising an overflow drain electrode, a micro computer 5, a D/A converter 6, and an OFD (overflow drain) voltage control circuit 7 for controlling a voltage applied to the overflow drain electrode depending on whether reading from the CCD1 is an addition reading method or a non-addition reading method. A voltage applied to the overflow drain electrode corresponding to the reading method from the CCD1 is set to a voltage value for suppressing smear. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
