PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a black-colored ceramic colored by using a glaze has a surface with luster and the luster does not match the whole atmosphere in some cases although a method comprising coloring by using the glaze is generally utilized when a ceramic, e.g., the black roof tile is conventionally produced; and to therefore provide technology for producing the black-colored ceramic having a natural feeling free from the luster, which is very important to expand application of the black-colored ceramics. SOLUTION: A method for producing the black-colored ceramic comprises (a) a process of firing a green body formed of a ceramic raw material containing an iron compound in an oxidizing atmosphere, (b) a process of smoking the green body by using a smoking agent containing, as a main component, a hydrocarbon gas, and (c) a process of oxidizing/burning off a carbon film formed on the surface of the body by the hydrocarbon gas in the process (b).
