A set value for the control (12) of the operating device (11) for the scanner optics (6) can be defined on the basis of detection of the pointer mark (14) marking a processing location (3a, 3b, 3c, 3d) using the evaluation means (18). This set value is used for subsequent workpiece processing for adjusting the scanner optics (6).
