PURPOSE: An ink jet head unit is provided to efficiently remove an undesired influence caused by foam in a damping room. CONSTITUTION: An ink jet head unit includes a head chip(12). The head chip(12) includes a first surface formed with a nozzle orifice for ejecting ink and a second surface formed with an ink intake hole. The ink intake hole is communicated with the nozzle orifice. An ink path allows the nozzle orifice to communicate with an ink source so as to feed ink into the nozzle orifice. A filter(36) is aligned at the ink path of an upper portion of the ink intake hole towards an upper portion of the ink fluid path. A cover member covers one portion of the first side of the filter(36). The cover member allows the ink to pass through the ink fluid path while preventing the foam from making contact with the first surface.
