<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic recording medium which has excellent recording current characteristics and frequency characteristics and high output and whose power consumption is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium has: a non-magnetic layer 3 containing inorganic powder and a binder; and a magnetic layer 2 containing ferromagnetic powder and a binder, both layers being formed on one principal surface of a non-magnetic substrate 1; and a back layer 4 formed on the other principal surface. In the magnetic recording medium, coercive force Hc and SFD (switching field distribution) have the relation of 220≤Hc×(1+0.5×SFD), and the coercive force Hc and a squareness ratio Rs have the relation of 2.2≤Hc/Rs≤2.6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
