<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor that ensures user authentication and a method of managing it. <P>SOLUTION: When user authentication has been carried out normally at a server, a user ID and a password to be authenticated are registered in the image processor (step S6). If there is no response from the server while the user ID and the password have been inputted to the image processor (NO at step 4), the user ID and the password registered in the image processor are collated with the user ID and the password inputted (step S9). Once the information registered in the image processor has matched the information inputted (YES at step S10), the use of the information processor is permitted.
