<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid fuel which has a high energy density and enables easy discharge of an oxidation product from the liquid fuel, and a fuel cell with a high energy density using the liquid fuel as a fuel. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid fuel comprises an aqueous alkali solution containing a water-soluble metal hydride. Here, the amount of the water-soluble metal hydride contained in the aqueous alkali solution is equal to or larger than the amount that can be dissolved in the aqueous alkali solution and, when all of the water-soluble metal hydride contained in the aqueous alkali solution is oxidized, yields the oxidation product in an amount that is equal to or smaller than the amount that can be dissolved in the aqueous alkali solution. The liquid fuel is used as the fuel to constitute a fuel cell. The alkali is preferably KOH, NaOH, LiOH, etc., and the water-soluble metal hydride is preferably NaBH<SB>4</SB>, KBH<SB>4</SB>, LiAlH<SB>4</SB>, KH, NaH, etc. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
