ELECTRODE CATALYST AND MANUFACTURING METHOD OF SAME

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode catalyst capable of restraining an electrolyte film from deterioration due to hydrogen peroxide, and of improving the durability of various kinds of electrochemical devices like a solid polymer fuel cell.

SOLUTION: The electrode catalyst comprises a carbonaceous carrier, noble metal fine particles held on the surface of the carbonaceous carrier, and a surface layer making the surface of the carbonaceous carrier electrochemically inactive. In this case, the surface layer is preferably composed of an organic molecule or carbonaceous compound covering the surface of the carbonaceous carrier.
