<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for smelting a low-carbon high-manganese molten steel, which more reliably reduces manganese losses than a conventional method does and is inexpensive. <P>SOLUTION: In the process of adding high-carbon ferromanganese into a molten steel which has been rough-decarburized in a converter, tapping it out, and subsequently finish-decarburizing it by top-blowing oxygen gas under a depressurized condition with the use of a vacuum degassing tank, this smelting method includes lowering a flow rate of the top-blown oxygen gas to 4/5 to 2/3 of the initial flow rate of the top blowing, after the carbon concentration in the molten steel has been lowered to 0.06 mass%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
