<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means constitution for surely reducing load fluctuation due to a fall in a surface friction coefficient μ of an image carrier caused by contact remaining of a cleaning blade for the image carrier in an image forming apparatus using a blade cleaning device. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has the image carrier 1, a drive source for rotating the image carrier, and the cleaning blade 6a removing a developer by being brought into contact with the image carrier. The image forming apparatus for forming a contact region W with the image carrier with the cleaning blade 6a has a control sequence for rotating the image carrier 1 in at least the contact region W or larger in the same direction (1) as that of image formation after the image carrier 1 stops once, next, rotating it in the reverse direction (b), and stopping it during image carrier stop. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
