<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-theft device for a construction machine capable of certainly preventing theft of the construction machine. <P>SOLUTION: The anti-theft device for the construction machine is provided with an engine stop means 27 for forcedly stopping the engine 20 separately from a key switch for carrying out starting and stopping of the power engine 20 mounted on a vehicle body. An engine stopping means 27 is locked at an engine stopping position and a lock means 29 removable by a specific key 35 is detachably provided on the engine stop means 27. Thereby, even if a handle 27a of the engine stop means 27 is returned to an engine activation position, the handle 27a cannot be returned to the engine activation position so long as the lock means 29 is removed by the specific key 35. Therefore, a person other than the person possessing the specific key 35 cannot start the engine 20.
