PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a set tool in a functional droplet discharge head preserving apparatus which can appropriately pack preserved liquid in a channel in the head in relation to a plurality of kinds of head units loaded with functional droplet discharge heads mutually different in number, the functional droplet discharge head preserving apparatus having the set tool, and the like.

SOLUTION: In the set tool of the preserving apparatus which preservably sets each functional droplet discharge head 3 of a second head unit 1b having a same arrangement pattern and a smaller number of the functional droplet discharge heads 3 in place of a first head unit 1a through a second sub-carriage 2b, a direct set part in the same form as the fitting form of a first sub-carriage 2b to a head set part 205 is provided, and the set tool 251 having an indirect set part for setting the second head unit 1b is provided to make each functional droplet discharge head 3 coincide with each connection part 222 of a corresponding nozzle connection attachment 206.
