PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of quickly balancing pressure between the high pressure side and the low pressure side, when starting and stopping some of compressors, in a refrigerating cycle for simultaneously operating a plurality of compressors. SOLUTION: A bypass means is provided for separating a refrigerant to a suction side pipe of a commercial frequency compressor from a pipe between the delivery side of the compressors and a check valve, in at least one of starting and stopping. The pressure between the high pressure side and the low pressure side is quickly balanced, by simultaneously opening and closing the check valve when starting and stopping the compressor.
