PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting and eliminating an odor emission source, capable of utilizing excretions for instant sanitary elimination, which may cause bad odor to be emitted in elderly care facilities, hospitals or the like and which may cause hospital infections. SOLUTION: In the method for detecting and eliminating the odor emission source, a plurality of odor detecting sensors (each of which is composed of an air sucking opening 10, a tube 9 and an odor sensor unit 12) are arranged in a two-dimensional form on a floor face 15, and detection data detected by the odor detecting sensors are transmitted to a control unit 37. In the control unit 37, the kind, the intensity and the incidence site of the odor emission source 20 are specified on the basis of the detection data. Furthermore, a self-propelled robot 40 is provided, which can move up to neighboring areas of the odor emission source 20 in accordance with commands from the control unit 37 and carry out one or not less than two of operations by which the odor emission source 20 is contained into the robot 40; and disinfectants / deodorants are dispersed; and the neighboring areas of the odor emission source are cleaned up.
