The coils of a conveyor belt (1) are formed by spiral filaments (2-4), held together by inserted locking filaments (5). The projecting ends of the inserted locking filaments are heat-treated to give distorted sections (6). The locking filaments have a cross section in a star or diamond shape with tapered points.
