The invention relates to a signalling process for finding a network element having a determined functionality on an established route in a network. In order to determine the most suitable network station or the network station (T2 and T3) which is furthest from the requesting station (TO; TE), an additional piece of information (Fx-supported: yes/no) is transmitted, together with a request to establish a connection, on the basis of which the individual stations (TO, TE, T1-T5) on the route can determine whether the determined function (Fx) can already be carried out by one of the earlier stations in the connection process. If this is the case, the station remains passive in the event of a function request, and if it is not the case, the station is active in the event of a function request. The additional information which is transmitted at the beginning in order to determine the most suitable network element is especially only modified by the network element which, in first position in the sequence of network elements, is able to carry out the established function (Fx). |
