<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device enhancing the security of printing process. <P>SOLUTION: Either permission information for controlling whether print data is allowed to be printed or deciphering information for deciphering the print data is stored in the memory 2062 equipped to an ink cartridge 206. The permission/deciphering information is transmitted to an MPU 101 via a center interface 205 and a bus 200, an input/output interface 203, an input/output interface 103 and a bus 100. The MPU 101 extracts the code data from the print data to be collated with the permission information.
