<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a silicon nitride honeycomb filter with an optimum pore diameter and porosity for dust separation and removal by using metal silicon particles as a starting raw material. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the silicon nitride honeycomb filter comprises a step of substantially changing metal silicon into silicon nitride by heat-treating in a nitrogen atmosphere a molded body containing the metal silicon particles of average diameters of 5-50 μm at 50-85 mass%, hollow glass particles having softening temperatures of 400-1,000°C at 5-30 mass%, and an organic binder at 10-20 mass%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
