PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote home device management apparatus and a method therefor, for adding a new home device into a home network, and setting and updating environment set data caused by the above addition. SOLUTION: A transmission data processing section 220 transmits the information in regard to the home device to a provider server connected to an external network, and requests the environment set data for setting a drive environment of the home device. A reception data processing section 230 receives, from the provider server, a response message to the request, and extracts the environment set data included in the response message. On the basis of the environment set data, an environment set section 240 sets the drive environment for operating the home device. The home device can be managed by automatically installing and updating the environment set data for setting the drive environment of the home device, without the intervention of the user.
