PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image contrast in SPR imaging. SOLUTION: An array for multiplex evanescent scan capable of acquiring surface plasmon resonance images having large contrast is provided. An array target feature is typically a biopolymer. There is no need for labeling a probe in this scan. The target feature is provided on noble metal adhering a substrate in the array. A region between features captures, deflects, and/or emits light so that the light directed through the substrate is not reflected at the regions nor interfere with evanescent scans in a reflecting region provided with the target feature. A geometric or based on matter light attenuation feature is planned. The array, hardware and software required for reading the array and a related method are provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
