PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polytrimethylene terephthalate-based polyester, forming a very small amount of an attached material on a spinneret even by spinning continuously for a long time through the spinneret by reducing an amount of a cyclic dimer regenerated on remelting the polytrimethylene terephthalate for melt spinning, also showing a small amount of oligomer sedimentation on weaving or knitting and capable of producing a fiber stably, and the polyester fiber obtained from the same. SOLUTION: This method comprises bringing a polyester having the trimethylene terephthalate polymerized by using a titanium compound as a polymerization catalyst, as a main recurring unit, in contact with a phosphoric acid-based compound solution having 1-10,000 wt.ppm concentration range.
