PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of preventing cost and assembly man-hours from being remarkably increased, simply formed, having a detachable sheet retaining member, and capable of feeding sheets separately one by one in a correction direction even if the thicknesses of the sheets are not uniform. SOLUTION: The sheet retaining member 30 formed in a gantry shape by bending the lateral both ends of a flat plate downward is formed at the upper part of a cursor 22 on the tray 21. When the sheet retaining member 30 is fitted to a cursor moving groove 23, the sheet retaining member 30 and its leg parts 30a are curved in the sheet lateral inner direction, the engagement claws 31 of the leg parts 30a are engaged with the cursor moving groove 23, and a hand is released. A sheet retaining film 32 pressing downward a sheet loaded on the tray 21 is installed on the downstream side of the sheet retaining member 30 in the sheet feeding direction.
