PURPOSE: A method and a device for automatically restoring an SCTP(Stream Control Transmission Protocol) association at high speed are provided to sense that an SCTP association is terminated owing to a network fault or a fault of other station, and to automatically set the SCTP association, thereby supplying a fault-tolerant SCTP transport to an SCTP user application. CONSTITUTION: An automatic association setup controller continuously monitors a signal received from a host(501), and judges a kind of the received signal(502). If the received signal refers to a communication lost notification, the controller receives the communication lost notification from the host(503). The controller decides whether a primitive of the lost notification is caused by a disconnected association between the host and other station(504). If so, the controller sets an association resetting timer to set the association again(505). The controller calls an associate primitive to the host, and requests the association between the host and the other station(506).
