<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To search troubles in a branch optical path from each light terminal of each user to a light turnout regarding a method for searching troubles in the optical path for searching troubles in the optical path in an optical communication network for connecting the transmitter of a communication station to the light terminal of each user's house by the optical path through the light turnout. <P>SOLUTION: Each peak value of Fresnel reflection waveform 14 at a branch optical path far end obtained when an optical pulse (d) is applied from optical pulse testing equipment 20 to a main optical path 5 is read as each reference peak value P, and each peak value of the Fresnel reflection waveform 14 at the branch optical path far end obtained while one branch optical path to be measured in a plurality of branch optical paths 7a-7d is being bent is read as each test peak value Q. Then, when one test peak value Q is lower than a corresponding reference peak value P by a specified value or higher, it is decided that the branch optical path to be measured is normal.
