PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling an optical control device for using the light control device at an inexpensive cost in a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The optical control device has a transparent electrode 202, an electric conductivity variable part 203, a drive electrode 204, and a movable part 108. The method for controlling the device includes a control light supply process for making control light L of constant intensity incident on the transparent electrode 202, a modulation voltage supply process for applying voltage modulated between the transparent electrode 202 and the movable part 108 in response to an input signal, and a moving process for making the control light L on the transparent electrode 202, generating force F in response to modulated voltage between the drive electrode 204 and the movable part 108 by changing electric conductivity of the electric conductivity variable part 203, and moving the movable part 108 to a prescribed position.
