PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve for an engine, which is reduced in weight using aluminum alloy demonstrating extremely excellent low frictional property and wear resistance, and exerting fuel saving effect more excellent than a conventional steel material. SOLUTION: The valve for the engine is mainly composed of the alloy which slides under the existence of lubricant, has a hard carbon membrane at the surface, and uses aluminum as a main element. The hard carbon membrane has a hydrogen atom of 30 atom % or less in the content. The lubricant used is desirable to contain one or both of a fatty acid ashless friction adjuster and an aliphatic amine ashless friction adjuster. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
