PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet shutter device which can positively and quietly return engaging pieces disengaged from rail grooves of respective guide rails due to overloading on a shutter curtain thereof. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the sheet shutter device, a position holding bar 14 is arranged at a lower edge of the shutter curtain 1, and the engaging pieces 5 are attached to right and left sides of the position holding bar 14 at a predetermined interval. The rail grooves 9a forming the guide rails 4 each have a first guide body 15 and a second guide body 16 at upper portions thereof. The first guide bodies guide the position holding bar 14 in the process of opening/closing operation of the shutter curtain 1, to opposed portions in the rail grooves 9a. The second guide bodies guide the engaging pieces 5 at the lower edge of the shutter curtain 1 to the opposed portions in the rail grooves 9a at the same timing when the position holding bar 15 is locationally restricted to the opposed portions in the rail grooves 9a by the first guide bodies 15.
