PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a medium to be printed from falling from the tray in a printing device. SOLUTION: A printer 100 has a tray 133 in which an optical disk D is set. The tray 133 is nipped by a transfer driving roller 121 and a transfer driven roller 122, and is transferred to the sub-scanning direction by the rotary drive of the transfer driving roller 121. When the tray 133 is in a storage location where it is stored in the printer 100, the disk D is in a condition free from constrain. If the printer 100 is tilted, or when it is transported, there is a possibility that the disk falls from the tray 133. However, when shifting from the power ON condition to the power OFF condition while the disk D is set in the tray 133, the tray is sent to the medium-to-be-printed holding position where the disk D is nipped by the transfer driving roller 121 and the transfer driven roller 122.
