PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus or the like capable of obtaining an image with excellent dot dispersibility while reducing a processing time.

SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus has an arithmetic processing section. The arithmetic processing section uses an error dispersion method to decrease the number of gradations and thereby quantizes multi-gradation image data to convert the data into intermediate image data, and quantizes the intermediate image data by an inverse correlation type digital half toning method to convert the data into output image data. The number of gradations of the intermediate image data is larger than 5.
