PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer and an image input/output unit in which the downstream side end part of a waste liquid pipe can be secured easily through a simple arrangement. SOLUTION: The ink jet printer for printing an image on a print medium comprises a recording head for ejecting ink, a waste liquid pipe for passing waste ink delivered from the recording head, a material for absorbing ink arriving at the downstream side end part of the waste liquid pipe, and a housing for containing the recording head, the waste liquid pipe, and the absorbing material. The absorbing material is provided with a cut for locating the downstream side end part of the waste liquid pipe below the absorbing material by partially raising the end part of the absorbing material.
