PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stable iodine-stabilized composition suppressing the vaporization of iodine. SOLUTION: This composition contains iodine, an iodine containing substance or an iodine complex withα-cyclodextrin or its derivatives. As the iodine source, aβ-cyclodextrin-iodine inclusion substance, and as the iodine complex, a polyvinylpyrrolidone-iodine complex, or the like, are cited. An aqueous solution of the composition can prevent the peculiar smell of iodine and the deposition and dyeing with iodine on a container by the suppression of the vaporization of iodine, maintain the bactericidal effect of iodine for a long time, and can be used as a bactericide, and the like, in medical and food areas.
