The motor vehicle body has at least one pillar (1) connected by its foot to a side sill in monocoque construction. The side sill (2) in the region of the connection of the pillar has a recess (6) in the outer skin (5) in which the foot (3) of the pillar is accommodated in a positive locking manner. The foot ends flush with the rest of the side sill and does not protrude beyond it. The pillar is attached to the side sill by adhesive and additionally by riveting.
