PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the strength of boxed timber having a back split formed therein, and to prevent deformation of the same, accompanying absorption/desorption of moisture. SOLUTION: The box timber 2 has a standard-sized slot 5 formed therein in a longitudinal direction, and a wood plug 6, having a recess 7 formed in an insertion end thereof is inserted into the slot, and the box timber 2 has a ventilation hole 8 formed in a pith 3 thereof along the longitudinal direction.
